The Indian Fair (Fira d'Indians) in Begur is held every year on the first weekend of September and commemorates the intense relationship between Cuba and Begur.
The town dresses in white and takes on a Cuban atmosphere for 3 days. Streets full of people dressed in white, entertainment shows, musical performances, salsa classes and sale of mojitos as a drink of excellence during the weekend.
The history of this fair dates back to the 19th century, at that time from Begurenses emigrated to Cuba in search of fortune and work. They consolidated businesses in the Americas, gained prosperity and from there they returned to Begur. Here they built ostenoses houses following the Cuban tradition, recreating the lifestyle of the island.
To this day, we continue to maintain those houses that decorate the town and revive that spirit every September.
